Dota 2 Rank Calibration

Calibration matches decide your medal and MMR for the entire season, which makes them the most important games you'll play all year. Valve weighs win rate, KDA, kill participation, GPM and XPM when it places you — nobody knows the exact formula, but from our own order history each calibration game is worth roughly 150 to 250 MMR depending on how the match goes. That's a lot riding on ten games, and a bad run costs you months of climbing to undo.

Valve's system gets harder to read every season, so we don't gamble on it — your booster is assigned 3,000 to 4,000 MMR above your current rank with a win rate and KDA well above average for that bracket, and plays to maximise the stats behind the wins as well as the wins themselves. If we fall short of the guarantee, you get a partial refund or a free boost as compensation.
